The Vintry & Mercer is a boutique hotel in the heart of the city of London. The concept and design were inspired by the historic craft guild buildings found close by, with their rich interiors and ambience.

The hotel offers 92 luxurious guest rooms and suites with opulent furnishings and every comfort catered for. Guests need not leave the hotel to be entertained, with Asian tapas on offer at the chic Izakaya and views to die for from the stunning Mercer Roof Terrace, offering afternoon tea, cocktails and fine dining.

The design vision for the Vintry & Mercer, created by interior designers Dexter Moren Associates, is timeless and opulent with every modern convenience. A consistent design aesthetic from the room numbers through to the room lighting fixtures and control panels was essential.

VIVID were able to meet the client and designer’s high expectations, creating bespoke customised antique brass faceplates for the room control panels and hand-mirrored antique room numbers (set within specially designed entrance portals to each guest room) with key card housing, “do-not-disturb” and “make-up-room” notifications for housekeeping.

The lighting designers on the project - Nulty Lighting – wanted the lighting to enhance the restful atmosphere of the design by creating a warm glow when the guest entered and a choice of lighting scenes at the touch of a button. From a practical perspective, the client was adamant that the room control solution was simple and easy to use, with clever universally understood icons that could describe the functionality which would also be cost effective to install, maintain and manage over time.

VIVID’s Matrix room control solution, with its intelligent modular design, met both elements of the brief. It was uncomplicated to install and enabled effortless lighting and environment control from a single panel at the bedside.
